Parks and Recreation
The Sammamish Parks and Recreation Department provides opportunities to safely play,
gather, and learn at public parks, park facilities, and natural areas, as well as
through recreational classes, activities, and events. The Parks and Recreation Department
provides these opportunities through responsible resource management and environmental
stewardship in an effort to build and enhance the Sammamish community for all.
As a member of eCityGov Alliance, the Sammamish Parks and Recreational department
has assisted in creating an online searchable database of parks and recreational
program offered throughout nine eastside cities. MyParksandRecreation.com contains information about over
3,000 recreation programs and 300 parks all on one convenient website.
City Council advisory group on issues relating to the delivery of parks and recreation
services to the citizens of Sammamish.
Made up of local middle and high school students the SYB’s mission is to unite youth,
adults and government to form a relationship that promotes equality and mutual respect,
as well as to create integral activities that lead to a stronger community.
Adopted by City Council in December 2004, this plan amends the city’s
Comprehensive Plan and lays out a vision for the city’s parks and recreation
systems and policies. We are currently in the process of updating this plan.
This comprehensive planning document addresses a 20-year vision for development
of recreational trails and non-motorized transportation facilities within the city.
The dual focus on recreational trails and public right-of-way non-motorized facilities
is an intentional effort to create a well-integrated system for pedestrians, bicyclists,
equestrians, and other trail users in the city.
